Dreamtech, a manufacturer of comprehensive electronic components and smart medical devices, has produced the first graduate of the “Self-reliance Preparation Youth Support Project” that supports the stable social settlement of young people preparing for self-reliance. Graduates participated as mentors leading juniors and began recruiting new applicants.
The project, which was launched in 2022, is a social contribution activity for young people who are preparing to be alone after the end of protection, to continue their studies and careers and settle down in society in a stable manner. So far, 25 young people preparing for self-reliance have been supported over a total of four periods.
This year, KOSDAQ-listed companies such as Dreamtech, UniQuest, and Namuga will host together to select a total of 10 people by January 31st (Saturday). The scope of applicants’ majors has been expanded from the existing science and engineering fields to AI (artificial intelligence) data convergence and design engineering fields, expanding career choices according to industrial changes.
The project is operated in connection with scholarship support of up to 9 million won per person, education to strengthen career design and self-reliance capabilities, close support for life through face-to-face and non-face-to-face monitoring, and mentoring of current employees. Dreamtech executives and employees, as well as employees from related companies such as UniQuest, Namuga, and AI Mattics, will participate in mentoring to provide career counseling and practical advice.
Scholars visited Dreamtech Asan headquarters to participate in a company tour that introduced companies and toured actual production lines, and received various education in preparation for after entering society through two nights and three days of self-reliance capacity building training.
A first-term scholarship student, who is about to graduate, said, “It freed me from the burden of having to handle everything alone in the first moment of self-reliance, which was vague and feared. I felt that there was a strong adult around me, so I accepted it as a job that I could prepare enough to do rather than think of self-reliance as a special task.”
“What young people preparing for self-reliance need most is an environment that allows them to believe that they can try again even if they fail beyond immediate support,” said Kim Hyun-soo, head of Dreamtech’s social contribution team. “We will continue to provide practical support for young people preparing for self-reliance to become members of society based on manufacturing technology and investment in people.”
